Aquascaping and Maintenance Tools
A few long tools make planting and trimming far easier, and keep your arms out of the water. You do not need a full kit on day one.

What matters most
Start with tweezers and scissors
Long tweezers place stems and small plants precisely; aquascaping scissors trim stems and carpets. Their length should comfortably reach the substrate in your tank.
Stainless steel and care
Tools live in water constantly, so rinse and dry them after use, especially in tanks with fertilizers, to keep them working well.
Add specialist tools later
Wave scissors for carpets, spatulas for smoothing substrate, and glass scrapers become useful once you know what your layout actually needs.
Check before you buy
- Are the tools long enough to reach the substrate in your tank?
- Straight or curved tweezers: which suits how you plant?
- Do you need a dedicated bucket and siphon for maintenance too?
Your tank is small enough to plant comfortably by hand, or holds only a few epiphytes tied to wood.
