Tasks are tailored to your setup. Amounts and doses come from your products’ labels, not from this tool.
Why there are no fixed amounts
Water change size, fertilizer doses, and trimming depend on your tank, your plants, and your products. The checklist tells you what to do and why. For how much, follow your product labels and your test results. Our maintenance routine guide explains the reasoning behind each task.
Adjust as the tank matures
New tanks need more testing and attention. Once readings are stable and plants are growing, many keepers settle into a lighter routine. Run the checklist again when you add CO2, change filters, or add shrimp.
Other planning tools
- Substrate calculator: Liters and cubic feet of substrate for a flat or sloped bed, with an optional weight estimate from the maker's published density.
- Aquarium volume calculator: Actual water volume from inside dimensions and water height, which is usually less than the size printed on the box.
- Plant problem checklist: Match what you see to possible explanations and the safest first checks. It narrows things down; it doesn't diagnose.
